Terracotta Roof Restoration in Elsternwick
This Elsternwick terracotta roof had extensive surface buildup across the tiles, together with broken tiles and aged bedding and pointing along the ridge and hip lines.
The bedding and pointing had deteriorated across the ridge and hip lines, so cleaning or surface repointing alone would not address the unstable mortar base. The scope included rebedding before full repointing.

The roof and gutters were pressure cleaned, broken tiles were replaced, and the ridges and hips were re-bedded and fully repointed while retaining the roof's natural terracotta finish.

Inspect the tiles, ridges and hips
The terracotta tiles, ridge caps, hip caps, bedding and pointing were assessed to identify broken tiles and the full repair scope.

Pressure clean the roof and gutters
The roof surface and gutters were pressure cleaned to remove accumulated buildup, and broken terracotta tiles were replaced.

Re-bed and repoint ridges and hips
The ridge and hip capping was re-bedded, then all ridge and hip lines were repointed to complete the restoration.
