Inspect the existing tiled roof
The initial inspection identified the areas requiring attention: deteriorated pointing along ridge and hip capping, ageing mortar beside the valleys and broken tiles. The repair scope addressed those parts of the existing roof individually.

Repoint ridge and hip capping
The ridge and hip capping was repointed. The completed photographs show renewed pointing along the cap edges and junctions. Repointing renews the outer joint finish; rebedding is a separate repair to the mortar base and is only appropriate where that base needs attention.

Remove valley mortar and install storm seals
Tiles beside the valleys were lifted to access and remove the old mortar. Storm seals were installed along the valley edges before the adjacent tiles were relaid. This was a repair to the valley-edge sealing detail; the existing metal valleys were retained.

Replace broken roof tiles
Broken roof tiles were replaced as part of the agreed repair scope. Retaining the serviceable roof and replacing the damaged tiles kept the work focused on the identified defects.
